PEACHTREE Street STREETscape

As we experience a new wave of growth, we need Peachtree Street, and all of our public spaces, to be recreated as exceptionally designed places for all people every day. A few years ago, we began to reimagine Peachtree Street as a shared space - a design that enhances the quality of public life while improving the safety and vibrancy of streets with high levels of pedestrian traffic.

Peachtree Street holds incredible potential for a rich public life. The City's vision for this stretch of Peachtree Street is to create a space that prioritizes pedestrians over automobiles and that supports pedestrian activity to spill out from private buildings into the street, instead of discouraging it. Sidewalk cafes, high-quality public art, lower vehicular speeds, curbside management planning, and beautiful landscaping will all set the stage for a space for people.

The Peachtree Shared Space Study, tested feasibility of the shared street idea and push the conversation about the design of our public spaces throughout the city.
